TikTok

A Chinese-developed short-video platform; the first call for the 17 October protest came from a TikTok video.

TikTok centers on short videos uploaded by users and can be watched through its mobile app or website. Although it was developed by a Chinese company, TikTok is blocked in mainland China and Hong Kong, where Douyin, a separately operated app with a similar interface, is used instead.

The first call for France's October 17, 2026, mobilization came from a TikTok video; TF1's fact-checking team traced the video's origin.
