About The Nest Post
The Nest Post (巢報) is a news outlet that does one thing: it puts the most accurate information it can find, and the fullest range of viewpoints, in front of readers as they are, so you can make up your own mind.
Every paragraph links back to its original source. Foreign-language originals are quoted in full with a translation, not retold from someone else's summary.
Facts, statements by the people involved, analysis and opinion are written separately and clearly labelled. We do not speak for any party or position.
On the same event, we set side by side how different communities, outlets and camps see it, including voices we disagree with.
How we report
One story, one layer deeper: we first lay out the background (causes, timeline, official figures, each side's position), then move to angles the mainstream media rarely cover. For our first story, we read about two thousand posts on five French forums and collected the originals on a "Forum posts" page, so readers can see what people there actually said rather than a summarised impression.
We compare how mainstream outlets frame the same event and point out their blind spots. Anything without evidence goes under "What we don't know yet" instead of being filled in with guesses.
Keeping things apart: facts, statements, analysis, opinion
What original documents, data and dates can prove. Official sources are not treated as always right.
We say clearly who said it and where. A claim is not a fact.
Inferences drawn from the facts, with the basis, other possible explanations and missing data listed. Correlation is not presented as causation.
The author's view, in paragraphs clearly labelled "Opinion" and never mixed with factual ones.
How we present different viewpoints
We deliberately put voices from different positions together: right- and left-leaning forums, young and long-established communities, supporters and opponents. Forum-post pages show posts as they are, including profanity and offensive language, with a content warning at the top. Account names are partly masked to protect individuals, but each post links to its original thread so readers can check for themselves. Including a post does not mean we endorse it.
How we treat sources
Each paragraph links to the original and its location, and we disclose where a source stands. The same press release reposted by ten websites still counts as one piece of original evidence. Successfully retrieving a file does not mean its content has been verified. Where our data is incomplete we say so; absence here does not mean something did not happen. The full source register and version history are on the source register (Chinese).
Corrections policy
Every story keeps its first publication date, version number and the reason for each change. Corrections are flagged at the top of the story, never made silently. If you spot an error, or you are someone we reported on and want to respond, email corrections@thenestpost.com, point to the specific paragraph and include supporting evidence. We will check it, update the story and note the change. You can write in English or Chinese.
Independence
We carry no advertising, are not affiliated with any political party or government body, and do not accept paid placements.
