Karol Nawrocki
Also Nawrocki, Навроцький
President of Poland; on June 19, 2026, he revoked Zelensky's Order of the White Eagle after Ukraine gave a military unit the title "Heroes of the UPA".
Nawrocki is Poland's president and is aligned with the right-wing opposition. Kyiv Post reported that on June 19, 2026, he announced on X that he was revoking Zelensky's Order of the White Eagle because Zelensky had approved the title "Heroes of the UPA" for a military unit; he said the decision was not directed against the Ukrainian people and did not signal a change in Poland's security policy towards Ukraine. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha then said he would return a Polish award he had received.
Notes from Poland reported that Nawrocki and the right-wing opposition have proposed laws banning the propagation of "Banderism" alongside Nazism, fascism and communism. In an Opinia24 poll in July 2026, 55% of Poles approved of revoking the order and 27% opposed it.
