Its platform emphasizes eco-socialism, its rhetoric is anti-capitalist and anti-liberal, and it advocates non-alignment in international relations.

After the October riots, right-wing politicians and some internet users blamed LFI. The president of the French Senate also said that "the question of banning LFI can be raised," prompting a strong backlash in left-wing online communities.
