Laurent Nuñez
Also Nuñez
French interior minister, born in 1964, a former Paris police prefect. He offered to resign after the 17 October policing failures; Macron refused.
Nuñez was born on February 19, 1964, in Bourges. A career civil servant, he rose through the prefectoral corps (préfet) and served as Paris police prefect.
After October 17, he acknowledged that police deployment in some places was "not proportionate" to the size of the protests, with actual turnout two and a half times the Interior Ministry's forecast. He offered his resignation, which Emmanuel Macron declined, while pointing to failures in intelligence and forecasting.
